Effectively Treat Your Rosacea Today!

April is Rosacea Awareness Month!

April has been designated Rosacea Awareness Month by the National Rosacea Society (NRS) to educate the public on this condition estimated to affect more than 16 million Americans. Increased understanding has led to significant advances in the control of rosacea, allowing many of those who suffer from this chronic disorder to live free of its symptoms. Dealing with rosacea can sometimes feel like you are fighting a battle alone. Thankfully, our Coastal Dermatology + Aesthetics team is here to support you 100%.

How do I know if I have Rosacea??

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that can affect areas of the central face, and sometimes the scalp, neck, and chest. Detecting the signs of rosacea can be a challenge, as they are quite variable. Symptoms can include “sensitive” dry skin that is easily flushed. What causes rosacea is likely a trait of the immune system, with a variety of environmental triggers. If these symptoms sound familiar, thankfully, our team at Coastal Dermatology + Aesthetics can help!

What Causes the Signs Of Rosacea

While the true cause of rosacea may boil down to genetic factors, there are a number of triggers that lead to its development. Likely the number one factor contributing to rosacea is UV exposure starting in childhood. (Another reason to wear your SPF!) Other triggers vary by person and may take time to identify. Common signs of rosacea include flushing with or without increased blood vessels, dry red patches, irritable skin with a rough or bumpy texture, enlarged pores, and the formation of acne-like red bumps. Pimples or deeper cysts. If any or all of these sound familiar to you, scheduling a consultation here at Coastal Dermatology + Aesthetics can help you find the relief you’re looking for.
