How Does Restylane Contour® Work?
Like the JUVÉDERM® family of fillers, Restylane Contour® is made out of hyaluronic acid (HA). This naturally occurring substance is found in the body and provides our skin moisture, volume, and elasticity. Along with HA, this injectable also features a small amount of lidocaine, which is a commonly used local anesthetic to numb the skin. Restylane Contour® is crosslinked with BDDE, an ingredient that helps form a network of HA, to provide a gel filler that lasts longer at the treatment site. At the time of the appointment, the filler is simply injected into target areas.
How is This Different From JUVÉDERM®?
While both fillers feature HA as their primary ingredient, their texture makes them more suitable for different treatments areas. Restylane is granular and more cohesive than JUVÉDERM® while JUVÉDERM® is smoother. This makes Restylane more suited for adding volume to specific facial areas. Since this filler is thicker, it stays in place more effectively. JUVÉDERM, on the other hand, is better suited for addressing wrinkles and fine lines in tight facial areas.
What is The Restylane Contour® Treatment Process Like?
When you arrive at Coastal Dermatology + Aesthetics, our team will begin by cleansing your skin. We will then administer a numbing cream or ointment before proceeding with the injections. After we’ve administered all of your injections, we will then gently massage the treated area to ensure that the dermal filler gel is evenly distributed, giving you a natural-looking appearance. Typical treatments take less than an hour to perform.
How Long Does Restylane Contour® Last?
Following your treatment, you may experience some redness, swelling, or itching at the injection site for up to 24 hours. During this time, we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and keeping your skin protected from the sun. Certain medications should be avoided following an injection, our team can provide you with more information during your visit. In most cases, results from Restylane Contour® tend to last 6-12 months. We recommend coming in for touch-up treatments to maintain your results for the long term.
